Recently, on the 14th, the School of International Culture and Communication (SICC) of Beijing City University (BCU) successfully held a China‑UK joint teaching session with Ulster University for the Accounting and Finance majors. Bai Yunqian, a faculty member from the Department of Financial Management at SICC, together with lecturers Gillian and Doran from Ulster University Business School, jointly delivered the courses Carbon Accounting and Green Finance to the Accounting of Class 2023 and Finance of Class 2024. The sessions were held on the Aerospace City Campus. Prior to the classes, the three instructors fully communicated and coordinated on teaching framework design, content arrangement, selection of advanced case studies from both China and abroad, and assessment criteria. The courses were taught entirely in English.

In class, Lecturer Gillian introduced the theoretical foundations of Carbon Accounting, focusing on the impact of climate‑related events on financial reporting and international accounting standards for the Accounting of Class 2023. Lecturer Doran taught Green Finance to the Finance of Class 2024, systematically explaining the core concepts and practical significance of ESG investing. During the joint teaching, Ms. Bai Yunqian supplemented the instruction with current Chinese hot‑topic issues and real‑world cases, ensuring seamless integration and mutual reinforcement between the Chinese and foreign lecturers’ content. This enriched the students’ course knowledge and broadened their international perspectives.

In the interactive session, teachers and students engaged in in‑depth discussions, creating a lively classroom atmosphere. The joint teaching received high praise from all participating students.

The Accounting and Finance majors at BCU continue to develop high‑quality “joint teaching” courses in collaboration with overseas partner institutions, providing students with more diverse learning opportunities. These initiatives not only broaden students’ global outlook and deepen their understanding of professional knowledge, but also lay a solid foundation in language and critical thinking for their future studies abroad.
