BCU French Major Students Travel to France for China-France University-Enterprise Challenge

Recently, student representatives from the French major of the School of International Culture and Communication (SICC) at Beijing City University (BCU), led by faculty member Hui Juan, traveled to Paris, France, for a two-week China-France university-enterprise challenge and cultural exchange event. During this cross-cultural practical activity, the French major students successfully completed various challenge tasks and showcased the vitality of contemporary Chinese youth on the international stage.

As part of the China-France university-enterprise challenge program, the students undertook specific "lens missions" by exploring the streets of Paris. They were divided into groups to conduct field research and shoot videos in selected distinctive neighborhoods. From the perspective of young Chinese learners, they used their mobile phones to document Paris's iconic architecture, historic districts, and local daily life. In the micro-documentaries they ultimately produced, the students not only introduced the history and character of the neighborhoods but also vividly expressed their genuine feelings and reflections during cross-cultural encounters, demonstrating solid professional competence and cross-cultural insight.

This China-France university-enterprise challenge program was oriented toward real corporate projects, aiming to enhance students' professional abilities through cross-cultural teamwork and hands-on exploration. Alongside intensive research and filming, the group visited world-class cultural landmarks such as the Musée d'Orsay, the Palace of Versailles, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre, gaining an up-close appreciation of France's profound history and culture. From historic quarters to modern commercial spaces, from museums to public transport systems, the students immersed themselves in understanding the workings of European society. Through collaboration with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds, they sparked multiple perspectives, further broadening their international outlook and inclusive mindset.

At the concluding phase of the China-France university-enterprise challenge, the students delivered final presentations based on corporate projects and their research findings. With solid field research, creative video works, and outstanding cross-cultural communication skills, the BCU French major students received high recognition from instructors and French faculty and students. Through this challenge, they not only enhanced their French language proficiency but also gained valuable experience in authentic international cooperation settings, achieving a transition from "knowledge learning" to "skill application."

The successful conclusion of this study visit to France marks a significant achievement for BCU in deepening international exchanges and cooperation and advancing industry-education integration. The French major at BCU continues to expand overseas practice platforms and innovate talent cultivation models, striving to develop highly competent interdisciplinary talents with global competitiveness and the ability to undertake international communication missions.
