From March 9th to 15th, a group of 26 students majoring in Communication (International Class) and English from the School of International Culture and Communication at BCU successfully participated in the "2025 Beijing City University - Ulster University Immersive International Program" in Belfast, UK, under the guidance of their academic advisors.
Students from School of International Culture and Communication, English Major, participated in the five-day immersive international course camp, where they studied across multiple academic modules including Communication, English Language and Literature. Courses covered topics such as "Communication and Language," "Advertising," "Literature and Film," and "How to Pitch a Creative Proposal to Netflix." By learning alongside undergraduate students from Ulster University, participants deeply experienced the daily classroom environment of a UK university.

Through visits to practical teaching centers and libraries across three Ulster University campuses, students engaged in in-depth exchanges with faculty and students at Ulster. Cultural exploration activities, including a visit to the British Museum and a London city walk, provided students with authentic overseas life and study experiences.
Professor Sven Schottmann, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Ulster University, also held in-depth discussions with our faculty representatives on topics including international course collaboration and joint teaching and research initiatives between faculty members.
During the immersive international course camp, Professor Wang Peiying from BCU co-hosted a cultural exchange lecture titled "Beijing Welcomes You" with the Confucius Institute at Ulster University. By presenting two Beijing city documentaries produced by graduate students from our Broadcasting and Television Directing program, Professor Wang introduced the cultural landscape of Beijing to local students at Ulster University. Through this event, the audience gained a comprehensive understanding of Beijing's cuisine, architecture, and modern urban development.
In addition, faculty members and students from the School of International Culture and Communication were warmly received by the Lord Mayor of Belfast. The Mayor personally led the group on a tour of Belfast City Hall and engaged in a cordial exchange with the visiting delegation. Professor Wang Peiying, representing Beijing City University, exchanged gifts with the Mayor, symbolizing friendship and mutual cultural appreciation between the two cities.

Since March 2024, the School of International Culture and Communication has launched the "Immersive International Course Camp" in collaboration with multiple overseas partner institutions. Primarily targeting undergraduate students in their first and second years across various programs within the Division, this initiative offers short-term international exchange opportunities. By immersing students in authentic academic environments at partner universities abroad, the program enables them to take international courses firsthand, thereby enhancing their global perspective, professional competencies, and intercultural understanding.
