On March 3, Professor Carlos Carrillo Tudela, Dean of the School of Economics from the University of Essex, UK—our esteemed partner institution—visited the School of International Culture and Communication of BCU. Professor Carlos delivered an engaging lecture titled "Excellence in Specialization for a Brighter Future" to student representatives from the Finance (International Class) and Accounting (International Class) programs. The event was hosted by Ms. Bai Yunqian, the international coordinator of the Financial Management department.

Professor Carlos first introduced that Essex University's economics discipline was ranked among the top 200 globally in the 2024 QS rankings and highlighted the school's faculty, which includes Nobel laureates. He expressed high praise for the outstanding performance of several students from our Finance (International Class) currently studying at the University of Essex. Regarding teaching, the School of Economics provides undergraduate students with dedicated professor and teaching assistant teams to offer comprehensive academic guidance, resulting in as high as 92% of its graduates achieving upper-second-class degrees or higher.
During the Q&A session, students actively asked questions about program admission requirements, scholarships, and other topics of interest. Professor Carlos provided detailed answers, illustrating key points with examples from alumni of BCU. The event featured lively interaction, and students expressed that participating in international cooperation programs and pursuing overseas further education is an excellent pathway for their personal and professional development.

Prior to the lecture, the Financial Management department of the School of Culture and Communication held a specialized seminar with Professor Carlos Carrillo-Tudela and his delegation on the joint development of the Finance (International Class) and Accounting (International Class). They were received by Zhang Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the School of International Culture and Communication, Guo Yongjian, Director of the Financial Management department, and other relevant faculty members.
Both sides reached a consensus on a series of collaborative initiatives, including organizing the "China-UK Urban Workshop" study tours for program students to the University of Essex, conducting joint course instruction and teaching research between faculty members from both institutions, and arranging for renowned professors from Essex to provide postgraduate study recommendation letters for outstanding BCU students in the joint programs. These collaborations will continue to deepen. This exchange has further enhanced the internationalization of our Finance (International Class) and Accounting (International Class), as well as elevated the level of global talent development for high-achieving students.
