BCU Students Won Award at 2025 Greater Bay Area Flower Show

Recently, the 2025 Greater Bay Area Flower Show, themed "Century Commitment", opened simultaneously at Bijiashan Sports Park and Zhongshan Park in Shenzhen. This year's competition featured lilies and ranunculus as dual thematic flowers, tracing Shenzhen's ecological evolution from its first park in 1925 to its being “City of a Thousand Parks” now.

Under the guidance of instructor Wang Junzhe, the team led by Zhao Boyang, majoring landscape architecture from the class of 2025 from our university's School of Urban Construction, won the "Young Designer’s Miniature Garden Excellence Award" for their work "Gentle Breeze, Harmonious Melody–Spring in Curves" (《惠风畅 曲韵成春》).

The design centers on Shenzhen's cultural and technological innovation, skillfully blending traditional elements with modern design concepts to reflect the Greater Bay Area's vision of "symbiotic harmony between humanity and nature”(共生共融,戏韵自然). After passing the preliminary and final evaluations, the work was selected for installation and is now open to the public at Zhongshan Park. Zhao Boyang explained that to align with low-carbon principles, the team used bamboo, native vegetation, and solar-powered lighting, giving the project dual significance in cultural heritage preservation and sustainable development.

Launched in January 2025, the Young Designer Miniature Garden Competition, was organized by the Shenzhen Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau, hosted by the Shenzhen Parks Management Center, and co-hosted by the company Beilinyuan (北林苑). The event invited work submissions from young designers and students worldwide under the age of 30, attracting entries from institutions such as University College London, National University of Singapore, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Huazhong Agricultural University, as well as industry professionals. After initial screening by the organizing committee, 13 works were shortlisted. These were then evaluated by a jury of seven top-tier experts, led by a National Engineering Survey and Design Master. Ultimately nine distinctive designs were chosen for on-site display at Zhongshan Park.
