On 20 December 2024, the International Affairs Office organised the closing ceremony for the international students of the 2024 Chinese Language Training Class. Li Xuemeng, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office attended the closing ceremony and awarded the international students with the programme certificates, Wang Lijian of the International Affairs Office presided over the ceremony.


The 2024 Chinese Language Training Class started on 9th September 2024, and closed on 20th December. The international students had finished all the courses and passed all the exams of the programme.On 8th December, International Affairs Office organised the students to take the HSK Chinese language exams, and all of them passed the exams (1 student passed HSK 4, 6 students passed HSK 3, and 13 students passed HSK 2). Three students were scored 275+ (out of 300 points) in HSK 3 exam, HSK 4 exam, and 5 students were scored 190+ (out of 200 points) in HSK 2 exam. Most of the students had no basic knowledge of Chinese language before joining the programme, and through just 15 weeks of study, their Chinese language proficiency improved rapidly.


BCU has designed the "Chinese Language + Chinese Art and Design" featured curriculum for international students of 2024 Chinese Language Training Class. From December 19th to 20th, the International Affairs Office, in collaboration with the School of Art and Design, organised an art and design works exhibition and competition for international students, themed on "Fascination China Hidden in Art Works: My Beautiful Impressions of China". The students applied the knowledge of Chinese art and design skills learned in class to the design of cultural and creative products, residential buildings and furniture, and created exquisite works individually or in groups, through which they vividly interpreted their understanding of traditional Chinese culture. Through online voting, the final three students (groups) won the "Most Popular Work" Award. BCU will also cooperate with its overseas partner universities to select outstanding art design works of the international students to participate in more competitions of higher levels, so as to further expand the influence of students' works.


The 2024 Chinese Language Training Class programme has come to a successful conclusion. At the closing ceremony, the international students expressed that the rich arrangement of courses and activities not only enabled them to improve their Chinese language proficiency in a short period of time, but also allowed them to witness and testify the rapid development and changes of contemporary China.
