On December 30th, the International Affairs Office organized an event titled "Taste Tradition, Sweet Exchange" where foreign teachers participated in making traditional sugar-coated haws (tanghulu). All foreign teachers at our university, along with teachers from the International Affairs Office and relevant faculty members from various departments, joined in the activity.
During the event, teachers from the International Affairs Office first introduced the deep-rooted connection between sugar-coated haws and the Chinese New Year. This was followed by a live demonstration by an experienced master who showcased the process of making tanghulu, including techniques for boiling sugar and dipping the haws. Under the guidance of the master, the foreign teachers then had the opportunity to experience firsthand the joy of crafting this traditional snacks.
Afterwards, the International Affairs Office arranged a meal for all the teachers to celebrate the coming of the new year. Teachers expressed their hopes and best wishes for the new year and together created "New Year Painting". This event not only enhanced the foreign teachers' understanding of Chinese New Year culture but also effectively promoted cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
