On September 6, 2024, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara organized an experience sharing session for the 2024 Summer Camp. Sixteen participants who had visited Beijing City University in Summer Camp returned and shared their experiences and impressions with the institute’s faculty, students, and local residents. The event was co-hosted by the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, Wei Shuhua, and the Executive Director, Pan Zhimei.
At the beginning, Wei Shuhua introduced the types of scholarship programs offered by the Confucius Institute and the eligibility criteria. She also reviewed the outcomes of the three scholarship exchange programs since the establishment of the institute, emphasizing the importance of student exchanges and the promotion of cultural communication between China and Mexico. Following this, seven participants from the summer camp took turns to recount their experiences and feelings during their stay in Beijing.
The participants expressed that they experienced a perfect blend of traditional Chinese culture and modern life during the summer camp. They particularly mentioned that visiting historical sites such as the Great Wall, the Palace Museum, and the Temple of Heaven gave them a deep appreciation of China's long history and magnificent ancient architecture. The city walk around Beijing allowed them to explore the city center, including landmarks like the Bird's Nest and the CCTV Building, where they could feel the modern charm of Beijing. Additionally, they praised Beijing's cuisine and the warmth of their Chinese friends, noting that the summer camp not only improved their Chinese language skills but also deepened their understanding and love for Chinese culture.
In closing, Shuhua stated that this program provided a platform for the Confucius Institute students to learn about Chinese culture. Seeing everyone's enthusiasm and gains, the Confucius Institute looks forward to organizing more exchange activities in the future to benefit more students. The successful hosting of this sharing session not only facilitated interaction and the sharing of insights and experiences among the participants but also laid the groundwork for strengthening cultural ties between China and Mexico youths and promoting future cooperation and exchanges.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara will continue to strive to promote cultural exchanges between China and Mexico, offering more diverse and rich opportunities for student exchanges.
