Students of School of Performing Arts Participated in the World Dance Federation Asia Tour and Won Several Awards

From March 8 to 11, the WDC Asian Tour, organized by the World Dance Federation (WDC) and the Hong Kong Dragon Competition of Xiyingmen Charity Foundation, was held in Shanghai. Department of Dance Performance (Sports Dance and Education) in School of Performing Arts were invited to participate. In this competition, from the single category on university level to pair category on the Asia-Pacific youth supreme level, 15 students majoring in dance performance (Dance Sport and Education) won a total of nine championships in the Asia-Pacific region and the domestic region and other excellent results.

With a history of nearly 60 years since 1965, the world's top international standard dance professional competition is an important part of the British Blackpool Dance Festival (World International Standard Dance Championship), which is held in late February to early March every year around the world. There are dozens of authoritative experts from the Blackpool Dance Festival in the United Kingdom, with fairness, openness and justice as the theme of the competition, to set a new platform for international dance cultural exchange, and committed to promote the improvement of the level of ballroom dance in Asia. This year, there are a total of thousands of participants from 28 countries and regions around the world in 53 teams participating in this fierce competition.

Department of Dance Performance (Sports Dance and Education) started to plan to participate these events and competitions at the beginning of this semester, and give priority to recommend students to participate in provincial/national/even international authoritative competitions. Based on the conventional teaching and training, the Department also follows the principle of training through competition and learning through real performance. It builds platforms for students to learn and communications with dancers from other countries, and gives opportunities to the students to participate in the competitions, internships and employments. At the same time, it aims to be part of the high-level disciplines in the world in line with the international standards.
