On June 28, the 2026 Graduation Ceremony of Beijing City University (BCU) was held at the Shunyi Campus. University leaders, heads of schools and relevant departments, representatives of faculty members and counselors, parents of graduates, and thousands of graduates from the Class of 2026 attended the event.
University leaders announced the decision on degree conferral, commended outstanding graduates and individuals who made outstanding contributions to employment serving national strategies, and appointed liaisons for the newly established alumni branches.
Guo Guangsheng, Director of the Academic Board, read the Decision of the BCU Academic Degree Evaluation Committee on the Graduation and Degree Conferral for the Class of 2026, as well as the commendation decision for the winners of the Outstanding Undergraduate Graduation Design and Outstanding Master's Thesis awards.
Song Guilun, Dean of the Institute for the Development of Social Work in the New Era of BCU, read the Decision on Commending Outstanding Graduates and Individuals Who Made Outstanding Contributions to Employment Serving National Strategies for the Class of 2026.
Gong Yu, Chair of the University Council, read the Decision on Establishing the Alumni Branch for the Class of 2026 and Appointing Alumni Liaisons for the Class of 2026.
Wang Zhaoliang, a Master's student majoring in Music Education, spoke on behalf of the postgraduate graduates. He shared how participating in practical experiences, such as performing in the choir at Tian'anmen Square, helped him understand his mission and stay true to his original aspiration. He expressed his determination to contribute in schools in the suburban areas of Beijing, using music to convey faith and light up dreams. Wang Bo, a graduate majoring in Nursing at the School of Biomedicine, spoke on behalf of the undergraduate graduates. He shared his story of growing up and striving for success at BCU with the ambition to serve the country, expressing his firm belief in dedicating himself to the nursing profession and safeguarding people's health.
President Liu Lin delivered a speech, offering blessings and advice to the graduates. He urged them to, first, always maintain a sense of passion and commitment. They should seize historical opportunities, actively integrate themselves into the broader context of the era, and closely link their personal development with national strategies and people's well-being. They should strive to become Chinese people with ambition, integrity, and confidence, as advocated by President Xi Jinping, and demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of Chinese youth in the new era with deep patriotic sentiments. Second, they should continuously cultivate a sense of loyalty and righteousness. Loyalty and righteousness represent true feelings and great justice, friendship and dedication, and a concentrated embodiment of moral character. They should uphold the bottom line, establish themselves through virtue, treat others with affection, and build their careers through righteousness, being loyal and righteous themselves and making loyal and righteous friends. Third, they should actively enhance their emotional and intellectual intelligence. Emotional intelligence and IQ are the two wings of career success. They should persist in continuous learning and constantly improve their professional capabilities, while also strengthening self-management, empathy, and compassion. Representatives of the graduates presented flowers to teachers, counselors, logistics staff, security guards, school doctors, and parents to express their gratitude.
After the ceremony, a graduation song concert unfolded gradually in three chapters: The Dawn of Sparks, Tempering Through Hardships, and Embarking on a New Journey. Over a dozen songs transformed countless blessings into melodies, sung to the graduates who were about to set off, helping them fly toward a broader horizon.
Each school held its own degree conferral ceremony, where faculty members moved the tassels of the graduates' caps, presented degree certificates, and offered sincere blessings.
