Brazilian Higher Education Delegation Visits BCU

On April 20, a Brazilian higher education delegation of over 40 people, led by Mr. Rodrigo Capellato, Executive Director of the Private Higher Education Association of the State of São Paulo (Associação das Universidades Particulares de Ensino Superior - AUPE), visited Beijing City University (BCU). The delegation included presidents, vice presidents, and other representatives from 18 well-known Brazilian private higher education institutions, including the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Liu Lin, President of BCU, attended and addressed the meeting. Both sides held in-depth discussions on deepening China-Brazil higher education cooperation and promoting exchanges between private universities.

The delegation first visited BCU’s Interdisciplinary Collaborative Innovation Center and the School of Cultural Heritage (SCH). They spoke highly of BCU’s interdisciplinary research and innovation platform, which is built to follow the trend of integrating artificial intelligence with multiple fields. They showed strong interest in the platform’s innovative achievements in digital research of traditional Chinese medicine and digital preservation of cultural heritage, and had in-depth exchanges with faculty and students present.

During the meeting, Liu Lin, on behalf of BCU, extended a warm welcome to the Brazilian delegation. He noted that China and Brazil have broad prospects for cooperation in the field of education. As an important part of the higher education system, private universities play a unique role in talent cultivation and social service. He hoped that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to establish more communication channels between private universities in China and Brazil, and to promote practical cooperation in areas such as faculty training, student exchange, research collaboration, and cultural mutual learning, so as to jointly improve the quality of private higher education.

Mr. Rodrigo Capellato, on behalf of the delegation, expressed gratitude to BCU. He highly praised BCU’s outstanding achievements in AI-empowered education and interdisciplinary program development, and noted that BCU’s educational philosophy and innovative practices provide valuable experience for Brazilian universities. He expressed the hope that Brazilian universities would establish long-term and stable cooperative relations with BCU, and through resource sharing and joint project development, promote common development between private universities in the two countries in areas such as educational internationalization and technological innovation.
