Delegation from Beijing City University Visits Uzbekistan to Sign Educational Cooperation Agreements and Co-establish a Research Center

From November 2 to 3, the Second China–Uzbekistan Hundred Universities Cooperation Forum was successfully held at Uzbekistan State World Languages University. The event was attended and addressed by Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education of China; Konggelatai Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan; and Wang Jiwei, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan.

Gong Yu, Chair of University Council of Beijing City University (BCU), led a delegation to attend the forum. During the event, he signed educational cooperation agreements on behalf of BCU with three Uzbek universities and jointly launched a research center.

At the forum, Gong Yu signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) respectively with Dilmurod Nasimov, First Vice Rector of Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage; Gafur Togaev, Vice Rector of Termez State University; and Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University. Concurrently, BCU and Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage (hereinafter referred to as “Silk Road University”) inaugurated the China–Uzbekistan International Joint Research Center for Cultural Heritage and showcased their collaborative achievements at the forum venue.

Following the conclusion of the forum, the BCU delegation made a special visit to Samarkand to meet with Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The delegation held a symposium with Dilmurod Nasimov, First Vice Rector, and Professor Zou Tongqian, Vice Rector of the university. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including academic program development, talent cultivation, faculty exchanges, and student mobility, and reached a consensus to further expand cooperation into additional areas under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

During the visit, Gong Yu also met with Mavlyuda Yusupova, Director of the Silk Road International Research Institute. The two parties agreed to jointly design and submit high-level research projects on cultural heritage, and to collaborate on studies related to heritage conservation training, thereby elevating China–Uzbekistan educational and scientific collaboration to a higher quality and deeper level.

Additionally, the delegation toured the library, practical training building, academic buildings, and campus facilities of Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. This visit provided an in-depth understanding of the university’s distinctive educational strengths and resource advantages in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage, laying a solid foundation for future multi-level and broad-spectrum collaboration.
