Dongduk Women's University in South Korea Visited the School of Performing Arts at Our University

Recently, a delegation from Dongduk Women’s University in South Korea visited the School of Performing Arts at our university, engaging in an in-depth exchange on modeling arts education between China and South Korea. Vice President Tian Peiyuan met with the delegation and presented them with an artistic work symbolizing the friendship between the two institutions.

The event fostered mutual learning and advancement in Sino-Korean arts education through various activities including academic lectures, classroom observations, showcase performance, and a specialized seminar. During the seminar, Director Chen Lin and Deputy Director Zhang Xi of the School of Performing Arts, along with the delegation from Dongduk Women’s University, engaged explored the topic “Transforming Talent Cultivation Models in Arts under the New Liberal Arts Framework”. Gao Changkuan, Director of the Study Abroad Service Department at the School of Performing Arts, elaborated on the vision for joint postgraduate program, proposing innovative models such as the “1+1 Dual-degree Program”. Preliminary agreements were reached on both sides on key cooperation including “collaborative curriculum development”, “student exchange programs”, and "cross-border practical project partnerships."

During the visit, a professor from Dongduk Women’s University delivered a special lecture titled “Asian Modeling Trends and the Comprehensive Qualities of International Fashion Models” to faculty and students of the School of Performing Arts. Drawing upon the latest developments in the Korean fashion industry and their teaching experience, the professor shared insights from perspectives such as cross-cultural aesthetics, digital talent cultivation, and international competition collaboration, offering valuable international perspectives to the audience.

In the classroom observation session, students from modeling majors from our school presented a showcase performance centered on retro aesthetics. The performance combined musical storytelling with visual runway expressions, creating cross-temporal fashion dialogue that received high praise from the delegation. The delegation also observed two courses: “Fundamentals of Makeup Techniques IV” taught by Liu Ziyu and “Commercial Photography” by Nie Xiaohan. The visiting professors remarked that both courses “integrated cultural depth with industry relevance”, offering fresh pedagogical insights.

This visit marks a new phase in the collaboration between the two universities in the field of arts education. Amid the evolving trends of globalization and localization in arts education, our School of Performing Arts continues to advance disciplinary development through international exchanges, enrich its academic depth, and explore diverse pathways for cultivating artistic talent in the new era.
