On October 23rd, the first session of 2nd General Conference of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Association was held in Shunyi Campus of Beijing City University with a festive atmosphere.
GONG Yu, Chair of the University Council of BCU, JI Zhiwei, first Chairman of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Association, WEN Zongyong, Vice President of BCU, WANG Xiaolin, Vice Chair of University Council of China Central Academy of Fine Arts , XU Xiujuan, Director of Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Folk Art Center, ZENG Yuhong, Vice President of BCU, LIAN Yuchun, Vice President of BCU, BAI Qun, Chairman of Beijing Yanjing Eight Wonders Association, CAI Pai, first Chief Supervisor of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Skills Association, member of the University Council of BCU, as well as Head of the United Front Work Department of BCU, and altogether with other association members attended the meeting, amounting to over 130 people. LI Yiduo, Chairman of Beijing Tunan Tai Chi Culture Research Institute, YANG Ning, General Secretary of Beijing Yanjing Eight Wonders Association were also invited to the conference. The conference was co-chaired by CHEN Qiurong, the first General Secretary and the newly elected General Secretary CHEN Hong.
The conference was well organized with standardized procedures in a solemn and warm atmosphere, and all the members conscientiously performed their duties, guaranteeing all sessions of conference in a rigorous and orderly manner. JI Zhiwei, first Chairman of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Association, made the work report of the first board of association, and CAI Pai, first Chief Supervisor of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Association, made the work report of the first board of supervisors. The association members deliberated and adopted the financial work report of the board, the new articles of association, the measures for the general election, and the measures for the collection and management of association membership dues. At the same time, 61 members of the second board were elected by secret ballot. Finally, 1 president, 7 vice-presidents, 1 general secretary and 1 supervisor were elected.

The newly elected Chairman WEN Zongyong and Chief Supervisor ZENG Yuhong presented CHEN Qiurong's painting and calligraphy works to JI Zhiwei and CAI Pai respectively, and expressed their sincere gratitude to them for the good foundation laid for the development of the association previously.

In his work report of the board of association, JI Zhiwei especially reviewed the establishment background and work achievements of the Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Association. He pointed out that the association work is carried out smoothly and steadily these years, owing to the understanding and policies & business guidance of the superior organizations, the foresight and dedication of a large number of knowledgeable and cultural pioneers, and the sincere support of the national cultural strategy and intangible cultural heritage protection, among which President of BCU, LIU Lin’s foresight plays a decisive role. He hoped that after the election of the association board, all the people concerning about the protection and inheritance of the intangible cultural heritage will, as always, support the work of the association and promote the development of the intangible cultural heritage protection cause and the prosperity of the national culture.

The new chairman of association WEN Zongyong in the inaugural speech thanked everyone for their trust, thanks the President LIU Lin for his advanced planning, thanked BCU for attaching great importance to this work, thanked the previous chairman JI Zhiwei and his leadership team for the hard work, thanks for all leadership team members and association members for their dedication, thanked for the full support of government departments and social organizations, and sincerely thanked for this magnificent era that providing chances for intangible cultural heritage development. He said that as the new chairman, he deeply felt the great responsibility and glorious mission so that he should always abide by the law, seek advice with an open mind, faithfully perform his duties and do good services. For the development of the association, he proposed three key points to develop the intangible cultural heritage- to impart relevant knowledge and educate people, to serve the people, and to inherit the intangible cultural heritage.

GONG Yu, Chair of the University Council of BCU, finally congratulated on the convening of the conference on behalf of the BCU and President LIU Lin, expressed his deep gratitude to JI Zhiwei for his help in the association development and in the cause of the school, and extended warm congratulations to the newly elected Chairman WEN Zongyong, as well as all the board members. He said, “As the initiator and chairman unit of the association, BCU not only actively supports the development of the Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Association, and has done a lot of work and made certain achievements in recent years in the intangible cultural heritage profession construction, intangible inheritance high-level talent training, intangible skills and cultural communication. In the future, BCU will continue, as always, to support the development of the association and continue to make contributions to the inheritance, protection and dissemination of Chinese intangible cultural heritage.”
According to the collective decision of the boarding meeting of the 2nd General Conference, after the election meeting, Chairman WEN Zongyong signed a strategic cooperation agreements with BAI Qun, Chairman of Beijing Yanjing Eight Wonders Association and LI Yiduo, Chairman of Beijing Tunan Tai Chi Culture Research Institute, under the collective witness of the newly elected association board. Therefore, the work of the new association has opened a new chapter of continuous striving for the inheritance and innovation of Chinese intangible cultural heritage, culture and skills.

The conference came to a successful conclusion in the applause of all the visitors. After the meeting, all the members took a group photo. So far, the association completes the new and the old replacement, and will open a new chapter in the inheritance of the intangible cultural heritage spirit!
