Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara Celebrated Confucius Birthday, China’s National Day, and Mid-Autumn Festival

On the afternoon of October 6, 2025, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara hosted a vibrant cultural celebration marking the birthday of Confucius, the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and Mid-Autumn Festival. The event aimed to deepen Mexican public understanding of Chinese culture and promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Mexico.

Held at the CI’s premises, the ceremony opened with all attendees standing for the singing of China’s national anthem, setting a solemn and respectful tone. Cheng Jingui, CI’s Chinese Director, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the enduring influence of Confucian thought on global civilization. He also explained the significance of National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, reaffirming CI’s ongoing commitment to advancing educational and cultural cooperation between China and Mexico.

A cultural presentation followed, during which five student representatives delivered speeches in fluent Chinese, introducing the life of Confucius, the historical background of China’s National Day, and the customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Their confident and articulate performances were warmly praised by guests. Chinese teachers led the audience in reciting excerpts from the Analects of Confucius, reinforcing the wisdom of the ancient philosopher. Attendees also joined together to sing the national anthem and enjoyed a heartfelt performance of the classic song "The Moon Represents My Heart", blending musical expression with the spirit of the festival.

The event concluded with guests enjoying traditional Chinese delicacies prepared by the CI teachers, fostering lively interactions among attendees. Featuring a rich variety of activities, the celebration served as a meaningful window into Chinese culture for the local community, further strengthening the visibility and resonance of Chinese festivals in Mexico.
