Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara Successfully Concluded 2025 New Teacher Training Series

On September 1, 2025, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara successfully concluded its 2025 New Teacher Training Series with the completion of the final session. The three-part training program aimed to help nine new teachers gain a comprehensive understanding of the CI’s operations, enhance their teaching competencies, and broaden their perspectives on cultural event planning. A total of nine newly appointed teachers participated in the series.

The first training session, held in late August, was led by Zhang Hao, who delivered a presentation titled “Overview of the Confucius Institute: Basic Information and Main Operations”. He provided an in-depth introduction to the CI’s history, organizational structure, key functions, and achievements in Chinese language teaching and cultural outreach. This session helped new teachers quickly adapt to their roles and understand their responsibilities within the broader mission of cultural exchange.

The second session was conducted by Cao Miduo, focusing on “Teaching Management and Practical Skills”. Drawing on her extensive classroom experience, Cao shared practical strategies for classroom management, essential elements of an effective lesson, and methods for accessing and efficiently utilizing teaching resources. Throughout the session, active participation and interactive discussions made the session highly engaging and informative for all attendees.

The third and final session took place on September 1, led by Yan Xuejiao, with the theme “How to Organize Successful Cultural Events at the Confucius Institute”. Yan reviewed CI’s cultural activities from 2024 and presented successful case studies from other Confucius Institutes worldwide. She encouraged new teachers to build upon tradition while innovating to develop culturally inspired programs that resonate with local characteristics.

The training series was widely praised for its well-structured content, practical relevance, with balance between theoretical guidance and hands-on insights, thereby laying a solid foundation for teachers to begin their teaching and cultural outreach work. Following the training, the new teachers expressed their commitment to approaching their roles with enthusiasm and professionalism, contributing to the promotion of Chinese language education and China-Mexican cultural exchange.

Looking ahead, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara will continue to prioritize teacher development by organizing regular training and exchange activities, continuously improving teaching quality and cultural impact, and fostering deeper people-to-people connections between China and Mexico.
