On March 28th, the San Marino Confucius Institute celebrated the completion of its HSK1-level Chinese course at a local middle school teaching site. The event featured a final exam and a certificate-awarding ceremony, marking the phrasal conclusion of Chinese language learning.
The Chinese course, offered as interest class in two schools, saw enthusiastic participation from students who voluntarily gave up convenient school bus services and dedicated their free time to attending classes-- a testament to their passion for Chinese language studies. During the ceremony, the teachers from the Confucius Institute presented completion certificates to the students who passed the HSK1 exam, fully recognizing their efforts and progress in Chinese learning this semester. The students said that the HSK1 course fulfilled their interest in learning Chinese and opened the door to the world of Chinese language for them.
The event also included a “Chinese Food Tea Party” session that deepened the students' appreciation of Chinese culture. Teachers and students exchanged their feelings and learning experiences during the semester while tasting Chinese snacks such as fried dough twists (麻花), egg rolls and plum candies. The students also sang a song named “Your Smile is Sweeter Than a Super Idol’s” they had just learned.

The completion of HSK1 marks both the end and the beginning. Looking ahead, the Confucius Institute will work to optimize course designs that combine language teaching and cultural immersion, better and richer learning and interactive experiences for Chinese learners in San Marino.
