On February 14th, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara was invited to the No.5 High School of the University of Guadalajara to participate in the Chinese New Year Celebration of 2024 Year of the Dragon, and had in-depth communications with the school staff and students of the No.5 High School.
The delegation from the Confucius Institute were warmly received by the school leaders and Chinese teachers of the No.5 High School, and both sides had in-depth discussions on Chinese language teaching and development, the relationship between China and Mexico, and other topics. José Manuel Jurado Parres, the principal of the No.5 High School , expressed his strong support for Chinese language teaching. On behalf of the Confucius Institute, Wei Shuhua, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, presented the school with a silk scroll painting, expressing the beautiful vision of friendly exchanges between the both sides and the blessing of the New Year of the Dragon. Afterwards, everyone came to the school's playground to watch the wonderful lion dance and martial arts performance.
In the afternoon, representatives of the Confucius Institute held a joint party in the characteristics of Chinese traditional culture with the students in the unique Chinese classroom of the No.5 High School. Yu Yehui, a teacher from the Confucius Institute introduced the Chinese tea culture to the students and teachers, demonstrated how to make tea, and invited everyone to experience it by themselves, during the time, the students were immersed in the unique charm of the Chinese tea ceremony. Huang Yanxiao, another teacher from the Confucius Institute brought Chinese folk dance and classical dance to the audience, and led them to learn the Dai dance Fung-tailed Bamboo under the Moonlight with the live accompaniment music of the lute.
The No.5 High School of the University of Guadalajara is the first model high school to promote Chinese language courses among the dozens of high schools of the University of Guadalajara, and in 2023, two Chinese language teachers and five students of the school went China and participated in the exchange program of the Confucius Institute. Through the Spring Festival Celebration, the teachers and students of Confucius Institute and the No.5 High School deepened their cultural exchanges, enhanced their friendship, and laid a solid foundation for their future cooperation of Chinese language teaching.
