Beijing City University Launches 2025 International Students Summer Camps

On July 15, Beijing City University (BCU) officially launched its 2025 international students summer programs, hosting Confucius Institute at University of Guadalajara "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp, Confucius Institute at University of San Marino "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp, as well as the "Across Mountains and Seas, Gathering in Beijing City University" Summer Camp.The opening ceremony was attended by Ye Yingfang, the Vice Chair of the University Council, Zhang Xinyuan, Deputy Director of School of International Culture and Communication, and Li Xuemeng, Vice Director of International Affairs Office. The event was hosted by Wang Lijian, from International Affairs Office.

This year's summer programs welcomed 50 students from Mexico, Italy, Uzbekistan and from San Marino. The participants hail from BCU's overseas partner institutions: Confucius Institute at University of Guadalajara, Confucius Institute at University of San Marino, as well as Termez State University and the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Uzbekistan.

At the ceremony, Ye Yingfang warmly welcomed the accompanying teachers and summer camp students, introducing them to BCU's history, its international development strategy, and its global partnerships. She encouraged the participants to immerse themselves in the experience, actively explore Beijing, and deepen their understanding of both the city and the university. Zhang Xinyuan provided details on the summer camp's faculty and curriculum, recommending students to engage in rich classroom learning and cultural activities. She emphasized using camera as a medium for communication and Chinese language as a bridge to foster mutual cultural understanding and lasting friendships.

 

Representatives from the partner institutions—Ms. Karla Patricia Luna Aceves, Ms. Alessandra Mularoni, and Ms. Rahimova Nilufar—expressed their sincere gratitude to BCU and encouraged the students to make the most of this valuable opportunity to learn and grow.

Alejandro, a summer camp participant, shared his excitement about being in China and his anticipation for the upcoming courses and activities, delivering his remarks fluently in Chinese. Yu Zhaoyang and Sun Gexian, two students from BCU, representing the student volunteers, pledged their full support to help international students adapt to life in Beijing and foster mutual progress in language acquisition and cultural exchange.

This is the first time BCU has simultaneously hosted summer camp groups from four different countries, signifying a significant milestone in the university's international engagement. BCU sincerely hopes all participants will actively engage in the diverse courses and activities over the next two weeks, build meaningful connections with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds, and return home enriched with knowledge, new friendships, and personal growth.
