BCU Successfully Hosted the 2025 International Student Summer Camp

On July 27, the 2025 Confucius Institute at University of Guadalajara "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp, Confucius Institute at University of San Marino "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp, as well as the "Across Mountains and Seas, Gathering in Beijing City University" Summer Camp, concluded successfully at BCU.

During the summer camp, our university designed distinct thematic courses tailored to the characteristics of participants from different summer camps. Chinese language courses at HSK levels 2 and 3 were offered according to students' Chinese proficiency levels. After intensive training in a short period, participants significantly improved their Chinese skills and all passed the final Chinese proficiency test at the end of the camp. The Confucius Institute at the University of San Marino specializes in traditional Chinese medicine. During the camp, participants learned about the TCM concept of "homology of medicine and food", made herbal sachets and hawthorn pills, experienced acupoint massage, and explored the profound wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine. Students from the Confucius Institute at University of Guadalajara participated in “Walk in Beijing, Talk in Beijing: Splendid Intangible Cultural Heritages in My Eyes" themed media courses. Using modern media tools, they documented the Beijing intangible cultural heritages they encountered and learned about during the camp, presenting their unique perspectives on these cultural treasures. Students from Uzbekistan engaged in in-depth exchanges and learning with Chinese students on the cultural heritages of both countries. They expressed amazement at the long-standing yet ever-renewing traditions of Chinese lacquerware and other crafts.

In addition, participants enthusiastically took part in traditional Chinese sports, learned Chinese calligraphy and ink painting, made lanterns by hand, studied the cultural background of Beijing's intangible heritage, and experienced the craftsmanship of making "Tu'er Ye". They also visited sites such as the Palace Museum, the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven, the China Arts and Crafts Museum, and the Haidian District Planning Exhibition Hall, experiencing the vibrant energy of Beijing as an international metropolis where tradition and modernity coexist and thrive.

The two-week-long summer camp served not only as a platform for language learning but also as a bridge for cultural exchange. Carrying these wonderful memories, hope the participants continue to write their own unique Chinese stories in their own ways.
