On June 22, the opening ceremony of the 2026 "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp co-organized by Beijing City University (BCU) and the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara was grandly held on the campus of BCU. International students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, gathered together to embark on a two-week journey of immersive Chinese language learning and exploration of Chinese culture. Ye Yingfang, Vice Chair of the University Council of BCU, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
At the ceremony, Ye Yingfang, on behalf of all faculty and students, extended a warm welcome to the participants from afar. She introduced that the summer camp, built upon the cooperation platform between BCU and the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, as well as multiple overseas partner institutions, features three carefully designed modules: Chinese language teaching, cultural experience, and professional study. She then encouraged all participants to strictly abide by the regulations, prioritize safety, and devote themselves to learning, while carrying forward the fine traditions of previous sessions and using their youth as a bridge to promote cross-cultural exchange between China and other countries. Finally, she expressed the hope that while experiencing the cultural heritage of Beijing and the charm of Chinese culture, the students would broaden their international perspectives and strengthen their friendships, laying a solid foundation for future academic cooperation and cross-cultural communication.
Ms. Pan Zhimei and Mr. Carlos Ernesto Valdez Hernandez from the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, expressed their gratitude to the Chinese host for the warm reception and introduced the delegation. Dulce Maria Salcedo Fernandez, a student representative, then delivered a speech in Chinese, sharing her excitement upon arriving in China. She said that she has always been fascinated by Chinese culture and felt deeply honored to participate in the summer camp at BCU. She looked forward to actively taking part in the camp courses over the next two weeks, experiencing traditional Chinese culture in depth, and visiting Beijing's famous historical sites.
This summer camp is an important initiative by BCU to deepen international exchanges and promote mutual learning among civilizations. While experiencing the cultural heritage of Beijing and the charm of Chinese culture, the participants will forge deep friendships with their Chinese and international peers, jointly writing a chapter of youth that transcends mountains and seas.
