On February 4, costume design works by Bao Jinlong, a 2020 graduate majoring in Costume Design of Beijing City University, were selected for the 25th Olympic Winter Games Fashion Showcase in Milan, Italy. Hosted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), this event is one of the important cultural projects in the preparation phase of Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. The works featured in this thematic event bring together creations themed on the Winter Olympics by National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of various countries and young designers. At present, the works are on display in the main exhibition hall of The Olympic Museum, Lausanne in Switzerland.

It is rare for works by young Chinese designers to be showcased in the international museum system with the Olympic movement at its core. In this exhibition, Bao Jinlong’s works are exhibited alongside the costumes designed by Italian designers for the closing ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, visualizing the cultural dialogue between different Winter Olympic host cities – from Beijing 2022 to Milano 2026, design has become a cross-cycle cultural response.

This exhibition is not only a presentation of Bao Jinlong’s personal design achievements, but also a vivid epitome of the practical extension of design education at BCU from an international cultural perspective. BCU will continue to expand international exchanges and cooperation, actively promote in-depth interaction between design education and the global cultural context, and build a broader development platform for young design talents.
