Liu Jiaoyue, the deputy director of the School of International Culture and Communication, welcomed the students on behalf of the department. She mentioned that she had been touched by the warmth and optimism of the locals during an earlier visit to Mexico. Faculty and students in BCU have made thoughtful preparations to help the participants adapt to life on campus, hoping that this summer camp would allow the students to truly experience the local customs and culture of Beijing and share their own stories about China.
Zheng Siyuan, the head of the Spanish Department, welcomed the students on behalf of the Department. She noted that the summer camp is a valuable opportunity for students to learn Chinese, and she hopes that students majoring in Spanish will also take advantage of exchange days and other activities to engage in in-depth communications with the participants, improving their foreign language proficiency together.
Following the opening ceremony, Wang Lijian, the teacher from the International Affairs Office, conducted a safety education lecture, emphasizing security rules and guidelines during the summer camp, ensuring the safety of the summer camp participants.
The purpose of this summer camp group is to promote exchange between the youths from China and Mexico, and surrounding Latin American countries, deepen Latin American youth's understanding of Chinese language and culture, and stimulate their enthusiasm for further Chinese language learning.
