On April 21st, Confucius Institute of the University of San Marino was invited by the Mayor of San Marino to participate in a series of cultural activities celebrating the “Earth Day” and to organize the learning of Chinese martial arts such as Tai Chi and Baduanjin. The Mayor of San Marino, Mr. Tomaso Rossini, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of San Marino, Ms. Guo Xiaoxia, and more than 20 local people participated in the activities.
This year, the Confucius Institute, with the support of the San Marino Municipality, organized teaching events of Tai Chi at the Town Hall. Several students came to support the events and constantly attracted spectators to participate. Attendees learned the basic Tai Chi gestures and steps, as well as the moves with Chinese cultural characteristics such as White Crane Spreading Wings and Playing Pipa by Hands, and tried to memorize the Chinese names of these moves. The slow, smooth, gentle and elegant nature of Tai Chi drew admiration from the crowd.

This event is another example of the positive interaction between the Confucius Institute at the University of San Marino and the local culture of the host country, which further benefits the Confucius Institute's cultural activities’ promotion.
