UCB President Michael Harkin leads delegation to BCU

On April 1, Professor Michael Harkin, President of the University College Birmingham (UCB), Professor David Paulson, Dean of the School of Business and colleagues in International Recruitment Office visited our University. Ye Yingfang, Vice Chair of University Council of BCU, met the delegation in Shunyi Campus.

David Paulson, Dean of the Business School of UCB, and Li Xuemeng, deputy Director of International Affairs Office of BCU, gave a brief introduction of each university respectively. Yang Peiyu, Director of the School of Economics and Management, and Deputy Directors of the School introduced the historical development, discipline construction, professional facilities, and school-enterprise cooperation of the School for the delegation. The delegation had a campus tour and particularly visited the training building of the School of Economics and Management, and art and design works exhibition by teachers and students of the School of Fine Arts and Crafts.

Later, Ye Yingfang met with the delegation in the conference room. After extending a warm welcome to the delegation, Ye Yingfang reviewed the past cooperation between BCU and UCB, and said that it was a great pleasure to have face-to-face exchanges with Professor Michael Harkin and the delegation in Beijing. Under the collaborative agreement, She believes that two universities will have even closer cooperation in various majors on the mobility of teaching faculties and students.

Professor Michael Harkin expressed his gratitude to our school for the warm reception. He said that the UCB also attaches great importance to the connection between the students and the industry, which is in accordance with the education philosophy of training applied talents in BCU. The disciplines that two universities offer are very similar. He believes that this visit will promote the deep collaborations in talent cultivation, teacher-student exchanges and other aspects. After the meeting, Ye Yingfang and Michael Harkin officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding between BCU and UCB on behalf of the two institutions.

University College Birmingham has established a strategic partnership with the University of Warwick, and a large number of professional courses at University College Birmingham have been recognized by the University of Warwick. Students will be able to obtain a degree certificate from the University of Warwick after completing the relevant courses at the University of Birmingham College.
