Recently, the 5th "HiShorts!" Short Film Week was held in Xiamen. The documentary film "Zhaxi and Friends" created by teachers and students of School of International Culture and Communication (SICC) was shortlisted for the 5th "HiShorts!" documentary feature film section.

The documentary film "Zhaxi and Friends" is a representative of the excellent practical achievements made by the Radio and Television Directing major in SICC. The creators consist of the undergraduate and postgraduate students Yang Dou, Zhang Liang, Shi Yueqi, Luo Ting, Wu Junquan, Zhang Yidan, Bai Junyao and Qin Yun. The industry tutor Su Mingqing, director Dargye Tenzin and professional teachers Liu Xilei and Zhou Weiwei acted as producers.

Founded in 2019, as the largest, richest and youngest short film festival in China, HiShorts! is dedicated to "creating an Olympics Games for young filmmakers", and has witnessed the power of short film creation in this era with its growing reputation and influence. The organisers of this year's event received a total of 7,691 short films from 108 countries and regions. During the 8-day Short Film Week, 40 short film screenings, 20 main-creator exchange activities were presented, as well as the winners of domestic and international film awards including Palme d'Or, Golden Lion, Golden Rooster and Golden Horse, who were also present to communicate with the audience.
This year's HiShorts! entries were all of a very high standard, and the creators of the majority of the works were industry elites who have been working in the field for many years. In the documentary feature film section, "Zhaxi and Friends" was the only finalist whose creators were teachers and students from a university, and being able to stand out from the many excellent works, which is a great affirmation of BCU’s teaching achievements.
