The International Affairs Office held the Welcoming the New Year, Talking about Hometown English speech competition

On December 26th, the International Affairs Office held the Welcoming the New Year, Talking about Hometown English speech competition on Haidian campus. Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office, Ms.Ma Wei, teacher Ms.Cai Jiaqi, and American teacher Mr.Daniel Yang participated, along with students of the International Pre-master Program.

The competition consisted of timed speeches and a Q&A session. In the speech segment, students shared their favorite hometown culture from various aspects such as cuisine, clothing, historical sites, and cultural relics. In the Q&A session, students are required to answer Daniel's questions and provide deeper thinking and interpretation on the topic. Students received affirmation and applause from the judges and audience for their fluent English expression, rigorous logical thinking, and outstanding speech content.

After intense competition, Ms.Wu Wen from the School of Economic Management, Ms.Zhong Qihui from theSchool of International Culture and Communication, and Ms.Shen Ying from the School of Art Design ranked in the top three. The other students received commemorative awards, presented by teacher Daniel.

Ms.Ma summarized the competition and encouraged students to improve their English communication skills while deepening their study of Chinese excellent traditional culture. When pursuing a master's degree overseas, she urged students to showcase the style of BCU students who are ambitious, determined, and confident on the international stage. Mr.Daniel affirmed everyone's performance and provided valuable suggestions for improving English speaking abilities.
