School of International Culture and Communication held a meeting for Chinese and foreign teachers and students of Communication major (International Program)

On the afternoon of October 19th, School of International Culture and Communication (SICC) held a meeting for Chinese and foreign teachers and students of 2023 Communication major (International Program). Mr. Rob Carthy, Director of International Development Department of Northumbria University, Mr. Sunny Sun, Director of Chinese Affairs Department of Northumbria University, Prof. Li Jiayi, Director of SICC, Prof. Zhang Xinyuan, Deputy Director of SICC, Ms. Ma Wei, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office, Dr. Wei Xuan, Head of Communication Department, attended the meeting. And Ms. Liu Sha, the IELTS tutor of SICC, hosted the meeting.

Mr. Carthy, delivered a speech as a visiting professor of the Communication major of BCU, introducing the curriculum of the related courses of Communication program of Northumbria University and the joint cultivation path between the two universities. Prof. Li Jiayi reviewed the collaborations and exchanges between the two universities and put forward her hope for the international development of the Communication program. A video on academic life made by Northumbria's international students from BCU in the UK was played at the spot, and a representative of the fresh students in grade 2023 gave a keynote speech in English.

BCU and Northumbria University of the United Kingdom formally signed a cooperation agreement on the credit exchange program in 2018 to jointly cultivate internationalized composite talents in communication major. Students majoring in Communication (International Program) will study in BCU for the first two or three years, and can choose to study in Northumbria University in the UK after meeting the requirements of foreign language and grades. Students who have completed the required credits according to the requirements will be mutually recognized by the two universities, and can obtain two bachelor's degrees from BCU and Northumbria University at the same time by fulfilling the graduation requirements of both sides and the requirements of the degree, and at the same time, Northumbria University will provide scholarships to students who meet the requirements to continue to study for master's degree.
