BCU’s co-produced film Dog Tashi was launched in Yushu, Qinghai Province

On September 2, the film Dog Tashi, which was co-produced by Beijing City University, was launched in Nangqian County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.

Some teachers and students from the School of International Culture and Communication participated in the creation of the behind-the-scenes documentary. The documentary team consists of Zhang Liang, Luo Ting, Yang Dou and Shi Yueqi, who are the outstanding students of Master of Fine Arts in Radio and Television in the class of 2022. Zhang Liang and Luo Ting will follow the whole filming process. Industry mentor Su Mingqing and professional teachers Liu Xilei, Zhou Weiwei, Wang Wenxiao, Liu Pei and Xu Jin are involved in the guidance of the documentary.

Through this activity, the students practiced and improved their practical ability in the actual project, and learned the valuable creative experience, artistic ethics and the creative attitude of excellence from outstanding Chinese filmmakers at close range.

The film is the directorial debut of Dajie Tenzin, a native director of Yushu, Qinghai, and is produced by renowned filmmaker Pema Tseden, who also participated in the script revision. The producer of the film, Su Mingqing, has experience in producing a number of Tibetan films. His work Drifting with the Wind was nominated for four awards at the 34th Golden Rooster Awards and eventually won the Best Director's Debut Award; it was also shortlisted for the Pusan International Film Festival and won the Best Foreign Language Film Award at the Rome International Film Festival. The screenplay of the movie is based on the short stories Missing a Dog Called Tashi and Roudan's Brother Called Luoluo by writer Chi Sanghua, which won the Screenplay Award at the 2022 FIRST Youth Film Festival. The movie is produced by Qinghai Sobocang Film Co., Ltd. and Qiantang Film (Beijing) Media Co., LTD, co-produced by Hao Lingyue (Beijing) International Culture Media Co., LTD and Beijing City University.
