From July 15th to 25th, the 2023 Sino-Korean Youth Microfilm Co-creation Workshop organized by the School of International Culture and Communication (SICC) was successfully completed at Chungju University in South Korea. The workshop was led by Pro.Zhu Fang, Deputy Director of SICC, with the participation of 15 representatives including faculty members Ms. Yuan Pingfang, Ms.Huang Yali, Mr.Li Yan of Communication Department, and graduate students majoring in Art (Radio and Television) and undergraduate students majoring in Communication and Foreign Languages.
During the workshop, the students and faculty members visited various schools, laboratories, and libraries at Chungju University in South Korea. They attended lectures by renowned directors and producers from the College of Arts at Chungju University, including Pro. Yoo Yisun, Pro. Lee Insuk, and Pro. Su Jing.
Pro.Yoo Yisun gave a detailed lecture on the history, current situation, and trends of Sino-Korean film cooperation. After the lecture, the students and faculty members had in-depth discussions on film cultural exchange and win-win cooperation between the two countries, based on recent Sino-Korean co-produced film cases.
Pro.Lee Insuk addressed the topic of Observations on Artistic Image Education and Creation in the Context of Media Integration. She analyzed the extensive application of artistic images in daily life, cultural exchange, and artistic expression from a cultural and art perspective. She also shared various forms and significant meanings of artistic images through case studies with the students.
Pro. Su Jing gave a lecture on the topic of The Transformation of Documentary Production under the Background of New Technology, discussing the changes in documentary production in terms of authors, content, audience, and the contemplation of the aesthetics of reality brought about by rapid technological development. Through the lecture, the students gained a deeper understanding of the diverse forms of documentary development and the importance of technological advancements in visual production.
Under the joint guidance of Chinese and Korean teachers, students from SICC and Chungju University carried out Sino-Korean youth microfilm co-creation activities. They engaged in film observation, script discussions, on-site shooting, and successfully completed the microfilm work Never-ending Curtain. At the same time, they also completed the 2023 Youth and Seas summer social practice project.
This workshop was the first Sino-Korean co-creation activity organized by the SICC. It enhanced students' understanding of the Korean cultural industry and their professional abilities in film production. It also promoted cultural exchange, cooperation, and mutual learning between students of SICC and Korean youth.
