From July 2nd to 8th, the 2023 Impressions of Hong Kong Media Workshop organized by School of International Culture and Communication (SICC) was successfully held in Hong Kong. The workshop was led by Pro.Zhang Xinyuan, Deputy Director of SICC, with a total of 21 participants including representatives from the Communication Studies and Radio & Television Directing majors, as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students.
During the workshop, the participants attended a lecture by Mr. Wang Feng, a news anchor from Phoenix Television, on How to Report on Major Events. They also actively participated in a voice dubbing workshop by Mr,Zhang Miaoyang from Phoenix TV's Studio Voice, as well as a theater workshop by director Mr.Cai Xichang from Hong Kong Drama. They visited the headquarters of Phoenix TV in Hong Kong, where they had a comprehensive understanding of the media ecosystem of Phoenix Media Group. Additionally, they conducted research at the Film Academy of Hong Kong Baptist University and visited photography studios and the Atoms Recording Studio in Hong Kong. Through these experiences, the teachers and students gained insights into the diverse media culture in Hong Kong and its industry development.


During the concluding session of the workshop, Mr.Wu Xiaowei, Deputy Director of Documentary Production at Phoenix TV, provided feedback on the micro-documentaries created by the School of Journalism and Communication under the theme City Stories of Beijing and Hong Kong, namely Impressions of Beijing and Hong Kong and Hello Beijing and Hong Kong. He highly appreciated the concepts behind the works and engaged in in-depth discussions about the themes, structure, and narrative techniques.
The Impressions of Hong Kong summer media practice activity is one of the educational collaboration projects between SICC and Phoenix TV and Hong Kong Baptist University. It has been successfully held for eight sessions thus far.
