Recently, the Confucius Institute of San Marino collaborated with the local music association to organize the opening concert of the 15th anniversary celebration of UNESCO held in San Marino. This concert also served as the opening performance for the 2023 Mask Festival.
Renowned musician Ms.Wei Xiaodong, using the traditional Chinese instrument Erhu, captivated the audience with the heart-wrenching story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. The concert also featured a magnificent rendition of the Horse Racing scene, and a collaboration between Mr. Wei Xiaodong and Japanese pianist Ms. Yuki Mack on over ten pieces playing with Erhu including Melody in Illness, Joy of Love,"and Sadness of Love, as well as compositions by Chinese string music composers.
Pro.Guo Xiaoxia, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, elaborated on the mission of the institute, praising the performers and expressing gratitude for their efforts in sharing Chinese stories with the world. She also extended an invitation to the guests to visit and learn more about the Confucius Institute.
The concert took place at the Teatro Titano in San Marino and served as a valuable platform for cultural exchange between China and the West, showcasing the charm of traditional Chinese instruments and music.
