From July 18th to 25th, the Sino-UK Micro-documentary Workshop When Beijing Meets Newcastle organized by School of International Culture and Communication(SICC) was successfully held. The workshop was led by teachers from the Department of Communication of SICC with a total of 6 students and teachers participating.

During the workshop, students engaged in various media experience activities at Northumbria University in the United Kingdom. Dr. Johnny Walker, the head of the Media Department at Northumbria University, hosted the welcome ceremony and provided detailed information about the university's history and media-related programs, expressing a warm welcome to our students studying in the UK. Student representatives from SICC presented two micro-documentaries on Beijing culture and made group presentations. Dr. Sarah Bowman, a communication studies professor at Northumbria University, and three other teachers provided feedback and highly appreciated the creativity of the works.

Northumbria University in the UK is one of the partner universities of Communication Studies (International Program) of SICC. It ranked 47th in the comprehensive ranking of UK universities by The Guardian in 2022, and its Journalism/Media Studies program ranks 10th among UK universities in the field.
