Students of School of Education achieved great achievements in the 11th Beijing Calligraphy Competition for College Students

Recently, the final round of the 11th Beijing College Student Calligraphy Competition themed Calligraphy in Beijing, Ink on the Central Axis was held in the gymnasium of Capital Normal University. Fifteen students majoring in Calligraphy (Calligraphy Education) of the School of Education of Beijing City University (BCU) were awarded prizes, including one grand prize, two first prizes, five second prizes and seven third prizes.

The 11th Beijing College Student Calligraphy Competition was organized by Beijing Municipal Education Commission and hosted by Capital Normal University. A total of 616 excellent works from 57 universities were selected for the preliminary competition at the municipal level, and 120 works were shortlisted for the final competition after the preliminary examination by the expert committee. Among them, a total of 30 works in the soft brush calligraphy group were shortlisted, and 14 works of students from BCU accounted for nearly 50%.

The theme of this Beijing College Student Calligraphy Competition is "Calligraphy in Beijing, Ink on the Central Axis", which aims to strengthen students cultural inheritance and innovation, to actively play the role of cultural education, to carry forward the culture of calligraphy and inherit the art of calligraphy, and to stimulate the students sense of national pride and patriotism. The Calligraphy Education major of BCU attaches great importance to the competition, and has won many awards since its first participation, fully demonstrating the students creation level and distinctive styles of calligraphy, and highlighting the good educational effect of the Calligraphy major of BCU.
