From May 21st to 25th, the Olympics of cherries - the 9th International Cherry Symposium and the first Beijing Cherry Culture Festival were held in Beijing. It was themed World Cherry, Wonderful Life and marked the first time the International Cherry Symposium was held in China. Led by teacher Yu Lei, a group of 36 students majoring in Cultural Industry Management from the School of Economic Management at Beijing City University formed the 9th International Cherry Symposium Volunteer Service Team, providing five days of volunteer service for the Symposium.
During the preparation period, the volunteer team assisted the organizers in completing preparatory work and emergency plans for the Symposium. On the day of the opening ceremony, the volunteer team successfully completed various services and guidance arranged by the organizing committee. They also formed the Translation Team of Beijing City University to provide service, which guarantees for international communication and emergency problem handling for foreign guests. During the technical tour and exchange activities, the volunteer team introduced the history, planting techniques, and development positioning of the orchard to foreign guests in fluent English, winning recognition and praise from the attending guests.
This volunteer service activity demonstrated the professionalism and spirit of the students majoring in Cultural Industry Management in the School of Economic Management. The school will take this volunteer activity as an opportunity to redouble its efforts, cultivate talents, and continue to explore more possibilities for the integration of cultural and agricultural industries.It will also contribute to promoting the cooperation between the university and rural areas, giving support to the rural revitalization, and painting a beautiful ecological picture for the capital city.
This Symposium is a key project of the Beijing Municipal Government, jointly hosted by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, the International Society for Horticultural Science and the Chinese Society for Horticultural Society.
