On April 16, School of Urban Construction and Beijing Jingcheng Group jointly held a model building activity of courtyard house gate at the Temple of Heaven. Vice President of BCU, Prof. Lian Yuchun; Vice General Manager of Jingcheng Group, Mr. Wang Yongjiu; Deputy Director of School of Urban Construction, Dr. Zhang Jianfu; teacher Dr. Liang Fei and all students of Architecture major (Traditional Architecture Culture and Technique) of Grade 2021 attended the event.

During the activity, Mr. Li Zhongyi explained the architectural history and style characteristics of the Temple of Heaven in detail. Students completed the roof truss models of Guangliang Gate, Golden Pillar Gate and Manzi Gate of the courtyard house under the guidance of teachers. The enthusiasm and earnestness of the students have been affirmed and recognized by the teachers.

Through this activity, students experienced the charm of traditional tools and wood, enhanced interest in learning and sense of identity of their major, and also had a deeper understanding of traditional architectural skills and culture.

This activity is one of the important practices of school-enterprise collaboration between BCU and Jingcheng Group. Both sides collaboratively led the students of Grade 2021 Architecture (Traditional Architecture Culture and Techniques) to complete the practical content of Ancient Architectural Formulas course in four days in the mode of "Craftsman Camp" practical class. In practice, under the guidance of Zhang Yongling, Xue Honggang, Wu Guanli and other experienced craftsmen, the students used traditional woodworking tools to grub, plan, saw, and chisel wood, as well as participating in the discussion of the renovation plan of Jingyuchi Community with the enterprise staff. In addition, students also practiced a number of traditional construction techniques such as tile making and color painting, and visited the restoration site of Tongxinghe Wood Factory, which is one of the historic buildings in Beijing.
