In order to enhance students’ interest of English learning, improve their oral communication skills, and create good atmosphere for our students to learn English, the International Affairs Office organized International Language Learning Season activities to improve students’ English level. On October 19, the office invited Dr. Jarrett T. Wilde, to hold an online English IELTS Workshop, titled Journeying through the Chinese Language. More than 1700 students from different schools took part in.

Dr. Jarrett T. Wilde, a specialist with 16 years’ experience working, studying and travelling throughout China. He got his master’s and doctor’s degree in Tsinghua University, during which he won the Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship.And Jarrett published a few papers in SSCI. In the lecture, Jarrett proposed some strategies of language learning combined with his experience. Then he gave students suggestion on long-term training to break the bottleneck in language learning. At the end, Jarrett explained the questions students put forward in details.

It is reported that the International Office will continue to carry out the International Language Learning Season activities, providing more opportunities for students to improve their English level.
