The Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Activity

Recently, Beijing City University associated with the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara and San Marino Confucius Institute, organized The Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Activity. More than 30 local residents and students of Confucius Institute participated.

The activity is divided into three parts: the Dragon Boat Festival introduction, cultural communication and contest.First of all, we introduced the history and custom of the Dragon Boat Festival, including eating zongzi and dragon boat race. Besides, we introduced some related poems and modern development of Dragon Boat Festival , enhanced the understanding of students at Confucius Institute in traditional Chinese culture and modern civilization. In the communication session, we invited student representatives to give us a brief introduction to the traditional festivals in Mexico and San Marino, achieved good cultural interaction and communication. At the end of the activity, we held a contest on the Dragon Boat Festival. All the students actively participated. Finally, Angelica from Mexico and Lorenzo from San Marino won the first place in the contest of Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara and San Marino Confucius Institute respectively.

Jorge, a participant from Mexico, said, I like China and Chinese culture very much. This activity is very interesting.I hope to go to China to taste zongzi and feel the festive atmosphere in the future.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival. In September 2009, UNESCO officially reviewed and approved the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival to be included in the world intangible cultural heritage, becoming the first festival in China to be included in the world intangible cultural heritage.
