Induction Meeting for Students in Animation

On November 11th, the induction meeting was jointly held both online and offline by Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics in Japan and Beijing City University, with all professional teachers and students of Animation presenting. Professor Yoichi Terashita, President, Professor Liu Fei, Vice President and Professor Koji Ueda of Animation of KCGI, as well as Professor Lian Yuchun, Vice President and Dr. Zhang Xinyuan, the Deputy Director of School of International Culture and Communication of BCU are invited to the meeting.

Prof.Lian showed his appreciation for the long-term participation from KCGI in the cultivation of international talents of Animation. He expected that students could learn animation and Japanese, becoming “Internet plus animation” talents. For the purpose of strengthening international courses construction and Sino-Japan bachelor-master joint program establishment, the two universities have jointly established a horizontal projects. By doing so, the University encourages teachers from both sides could mutually promote the development of core courses, practical courses, and teaching and scientific researches. Prof. Lian also supports students to participate in the social service programs.

 

After that, Prof. Koji delivered a speech. He said that students who had studied in KCGI are now actively working in various positions in the different countries and he is very proud of them. Prof. Koji hopes that both sides would deepen cooperation, jointly cultivating international talents.

 

Prof.Yoichi introduced the cutting-edge knowledge and technology of animation, and the future prospects of its industrial development. Then he presented an automobile advertisements jointly produced with Japan's Subaru Automobile Company, encouraging students to make full use of modern information technology to create animations.

 

After that, Qi Wenhao, a student-representative in Year 1 thanked both universities fortheir attempts and efforts in establishing this collaboration. He said he would actively participate in various activities at home and abroad, improving his professional level and practical ability.

 

And the fourth "Beijing-Tokyo Cup" Image Design Competition, themed the Creative Design of Beijing Cultural Characteristics, was awarded in the meeting. It received nearly 100 excellent works from animation majors from BCU and other universities. After the preliminary round and semi-finals, the excellent award, the creativity award, the guidance award and the first, second and third award were selected. At the meeting, the professional teachers commented on the award-winning works and the guests presented awards to the winners.

 

Since the establishment of cooperation in 2012, BCU and KCGI has jointly cultivated a great number of excellent animation students. Seniors of Animation could go to KCGI for master’s degree study at their fourth year of university. After finishing the studies of the two institutions, students could successfully obtain a bachelor's degree of BCU and a master's degree of KCGI.
