On April 20, 2026, the "International Chinese Language Day" and the launch ceremony of the "Poetry Connects the World" A Global Celebration of Classical Chinese Poetry, hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) of the Ministry of Education, were held in Beijing under the theme "Chinese: Sparkling Colorful Dreams". Beijing City University (BCU) was invited to participate. Following this initiative, the two Confucius Institutes (CIs) co-established by BCU responded actively, organizing distinctive celebratory local events.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico kicked off its event with a student exhibition, showcasing stage-by-stage teaching achievements including paintings, calligraphy, and martial arts performances. Meanwhile, the San Marino Confucius Institute brought a hands-on workshop on the intangible cultural heritage craft of "Chan Hua" (traditional Chinese silk-wrapped flowers) into several local high schools, allowing European teenagers to experience the charm of traditional Chinese handicrafts up close. Both events received enthusiastic responses from local teachers, students, and the public.
Building on this foundation, BCU has further expanded the depth of cultural exchange. In May this year, the university will organize a cultural exchange delegation titled "Intangible Cultural Heritage in Youth: The Language of Embroidery—Chinese Embroidery Art in Mexico." The delegation will tour three cities in Mexico to exhibit embroidery artworks and host a series of cultural exchange activities. This initiative not only continues the theme of "International Chinese Language Day" but also serves as another practical measure for the university to promote excellent traditional Chinese culture globally, using the CI as a strategic pivot.
Looking ahead, BCU will continue to support the two CIs in leveraging their platform advantages. The university is committed to launching more Chinese language promotion and cultural exchange projects that combine local characteristics with an international perspective, continuously injecting new vitality into building a solid bridge for people-to-people exchanges between China and the rest of the world.
