Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara Successfully Held 2026 Year of the Horse Spring Festival Celebration

On February 7, 2026, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara held a Spring Festival celebration themed "Gathering with Shared Hearts, Harmony Between China and Mexico," with approximately 500 teachers, students, and people from all walks of life welcoming the Chinese New Year together.

The event began with a lion dance and integrated diverse cultural interactions. Teachers and students from the Confucius Institute, together with local performers, presented a variety show blending Chinese and Mexican elements. Performances included a dance that combines the elements of Chinese ethnic minority with Mexican; Chinese and Mexican teachers and students singing "The Moon Represents My Heart" together; "Tenor Madness" featuring interplay between Eastern and Western musical instruments; "Ascending the Green Hills" and "Phoenix Bamboos Under the Moonlight"; teachers and students from the Beijing City University summer camp program reciting "Spring Before Our Eyes"; as well as Chinese and Mexican Chinese language teachers jointly singing the songs "Chinese Language" and "El Mismo Sol." These performances showcased profound cultural understanding and emotional resonance.

On-site activities included writing Spring Festival couplets, distributing red envelopes, making Chinese knots, and lucky draws, with local teachers participating throughout the organization and coordination. The atmosphere reached a fever pitch as the entire group sang Chinese and Mexican songs in unison and hung lanterns to pray for blessings. Following the performances, a cultural experience area offered interactive activities such as traditional Han Chinese clothing try-ons, tea art demonstrations, and traditional games, attracting active participation from numerous audiences both inside and outside the venue.

The event concluded in a joyful and harmonious atmosphere. In the future, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara will continue to promote China-Mexico cultural exchanges and foster mutual learning between civilizations and friendly cooperation.
