Lanterns Illuminating Reunion: Confucius Institute at the University of San Marino Hosts "Lanterns & Delights" Lantern Festival Event

On March 6, the Confucius Institute at the University of San Marino (CI) hosted a cultural immersion event titled "Lanterns and Delights Themed Lantern Festival Event." Local community members, transcending age and language barriers, came together in a warm and harmonious atmosphere to celebrate this traditional Chinese festival.

Guo Xiaoxia and Barbara Montarali, the Chinese and local Directors of the CI respectively, introduced the cultural significance of the Lantern Festival as a symbol of "family reunion in China." They led the attendees in experiencing a classic tradition: guessing riddles written on lanterns. The participants showed great enthusiasm and engaged actively in the activity. Teachers and guests jointly participated in a "Handmade Lantern Workshop," followed by sessions where guests experienced making "Lucky Jiaozi" (a Northern Chinese tradition) and "Sweet Tangyuan" (a Southern Chinese specialty).

The event concluded with participants holding up glowing red lanterns. This gathering was not only a successful celebration of cuisine and craftsmanship but also served as an emotional bridge connecting the people of San Marino with traditional Chinese culture.
