On the morning of December 7, the Confucius Institute at the University of Guadalajara successfully conducted the second Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) of 2025. This test covered all levels from HSK Level 1 to Level 6 and was held across 10 standardized testing rooms, attracting a record-breaking 299 candidates from Jalisco and its surrounding areas. The number of registrations for each level saw a significant increase compared to previous tests. Specifically, there were 147 candidates registered for Level 1, necessitating two testing rooms and six exams; while 119 candidates signed up for Level 2, requiring three rooms and six exams. This surge in registration numbers highlights the growing enthusiasm for learning Chinese in the Guadalajara region of Mexico.
On the day of the exam, 18 invigilators were assigned specific responsibilities, ensuring smooth transitions from candidate identity verification, guiding candidates into the examination halls, distribution of test papers, to the collection of completed exams—all carried out seamlessly.
Outside the examination halls, posters introducing the daily operations of the CI, short-term scholarship programs, and summer camp program were displayed, drawing the attention of parents and candidates. CI Teachers provided prospective students and their families with promotional materials for the 2026 summer camp, offering detailed explanations and answering questions regarding program content and registration processes to ensure accurate and thorough communication. The promotional efforts were well-received by both candidates and parents.
As the only official HSK testing center in Jalisco, the CI has organized multiple successful tests since its establishment, with the first test in June attracting 227 participants. The continued growth in participant numbers is a testament to the quality of teaching and the efficiency of the examination organization at the CI. Looking ahead, the CI plans to further enhance teaching quality and optimize examination services, helping more young Mexicans unlock opportunities in China through mastery of the Chinese language.
With this, the CI concludes its 2025 HSK examination tasks, having served a total of 526 candidates throughout the year. As educational and economic exchanges between China and Mexico grow ever closer, the CI stands as a bridge of language, writing new chapters in cultural exchange between the two nations.
