Recently, in order to make international students better understand the charm of Chinese idioms and improve their Chinese language skills, the International Affairs Office organized an idiom contest for international students.
There were three sessions in the contest: Idiom Experts---speaking idioms containing numbers, animals and moods and explaining their meanings; Excellent Recognition Skills---selecting the right idioms for the presented pictures and telling the stories behind the idioms; and Wonderful Imagination---guessing idioms according to the emojis. The students were very enthusiastic in their participation and answered the questions actively. After a fierce competition, four students, namely, Danny, Rafael, Elisa and Jesus ranked the top four in terms of scores they got.
Idioms are a representative and condensed form of Chinese language. The idiom contest demonstrated the international students' enthusiasm for learning Chinese, especially idioms, and provided an opportunity for them to show their learning achievements.
