On December 22, the International Affairs Office of Beijing City University (BCU) convened the end-of-term summary meeting for international faculty of the 2025–2026-1 semester. Li Xuemeng, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office, attended the meeting, which was joined by all international faculty currently teaching at BCU as well as Chinese faculty members from various majors.

During the meeting, Wu Danna from the International Affairs Office presented a comprehensive review of the international faculty’s contributions this semester. The summary covered completion of core teaching responsibilities, participation as judges in student competitions, organization of English Corner sessions, and delivery of open classes by international faculty. Notably, these open classes attracted over 1,000 students from across BCU for online participation, with active engagement in the comment sections through questions and discussions.

The meeting also highlighted key tasks for the end of the term and provided a brief preview of plans for the upcoming semester.

Additionally, Thomas Baer, an American faculty member, shared his innovative teaching practice of integrating games and tabletop board games into English instruction. His approach sparked enthusiastic discussion among teachers from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Participants engaged in an in-depth exchange on strategies to enhance foreign language teaching effectiveness, generating fresh ideas for next semester’s instructional planning.

Following the formal session, Chinese and international faculty from various programs continued informal conversations, further clarifying end-of-term responsibilities and ensuring the smooth completion of all teaching assignments for the semester.
