BCU Faculty Invited to Present at the 2nd Traditional Architecture Youth Forum

Recently, the 2nd Traditional Architecture Youth Forum was successfully held in Guilin, Guangxi. Dr. Hou Xiaoxuan, a young teacher from the School of Urban Construction of Beijing City University, was invited to attend and deliver a keynote report titled “Applying Expertise to Build Dreams for Cities” at the youth themed sub-forum.

Through case studies on architectural ontology research and historical district preservation, Dr. Hou demonstrated the transformation of scientific achievements into pedagogical practices. She highlighted technological innovations such as AI scene perception and digital generative design developed by the School of Urban Construction, shared insights into building disciplinary strengths in traditional architecture education, and emphasized the synergistic integration of research, practice, and teaching. Her presentation systematically outlined the School of Urban Construction’s explorations in advancing traditional architectural education. At the closing ceremony, the organizers awarded commemorative certificates to youth representatives for their contributions.

Hosted by the Traditional Architecture Branch of the China Engineering and Consulting Association, the forum featured master keynote sessions and four youth themed sub-forums, serving as an academic exchange platform for stakeholders in traditional architecture. The professional insights shared by our teacher have laid a practical foundation for deepening industry-education collaboration and promoting the specialized development of traditional architecture disciplines in the future.
