On May 5, the No.9 High School attached to the University of Guadalajara held the first Chinese Culture Festival, and Ms. Wei Shuhua, the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Guadalajara, and Ms. Pan Zhimei, the foreign executive director of the Confucius Institute, were invited to participate in the event and acted as the judges.
The No.9 High School attached to the University of Guadalajara started its Chinese language course in 2023, and currently has a full-time Chinese language teacher. Some of the school's students have taken the elective course on Chinese language offered by the High School and delivered by the teachers of the Confucius Institute. This Chinese language event was the first school-wide language and cultural festival. The superintendent of school affairs of the University of Guadalajara and more than 100 high school students participated in the event.


During the event, the Chinese teacher ‘Panda’ introduced the Chinese language teaching situation and various cultural activities organized by the No.9 high school. With the strong support of the school and the efforts of the teachers, the students of No.9 high school have achieved good results in various competitions, including an award of the fourth place in the 16th Chinese Bridge Competition for secondary school students in Mexico, and an award of the first place in the “Rhythm of the World 2024” Foreign Song Competition of the University of Guadalajara.

During the event, a total of 10 students stood on the stage to demonstrate their Chinese language proficiency through two sessions: Chinese speech and art performance. The students showed their Chinese talent and skills through dancing, singing, calligraphy and painting, won the audience's warm applause.

After a fierce competition, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to candidates under the evaluation of the judges. After the event, Wei Shuhua, the director of the Confucius Institute had a close conversation with the school superintendent and teachers of the No.9 school. She affirmed the achievements of the Chinese language program of the No.9 School, and expressed her willingness to continue to strengthen the cooperation and to promote Chinese language education and more various cultural activities in the future.
