Seeking Truth in the Artistic Ocean, Learning Knows No Boundaries special art lecture was successfully held

On May 9th, the School of Performing Arts held a special art lecture titled Seeking Truth in the Artistic Ocean, Learning Knows No Boundaries and an appointment ceremony for Professor Yu Zhen as a guest professor at the Black Box Theater in the 6th training building on campus.

Pro.Yu Zhen, a graduate of the Central Academy of Drama, is a national first-class actor and a member of the Beijing People's Art Theatre. His representative works include Human World, The Fifth Bureau, My Second Brother and Sister-in-Law, Mission Uncompleted, Inspection Tour, Blue Army Attack, Soldier Ready to Go, Hutuo River Children, among others, and he has portrayed many beloved and well-known characters for audiences.

The School of Performing Arts , through the Art Master Lecture Hall series, selects and appoints industry masters and art celebrities as guest professors in order to broaden students' horizons and expand the industry's development space through exchanges and interviews. The aim is to understand the unique life experiences and exploration spirits of contemporary artists, and to listen to the truth of artistic life through exemplary cases.

In the lecture, Pro.Yu Zhen explained the importance of compulsory courses for actors from the perspectives of vocal performance, stage presentation, physical posture, and expression. He mentioned that the lines and performance state of a character in theatrical performance have varying degrees of impact on the final presentation, therefore, the learning of each basic course is particularly important. He specifically mentioned that the structure of the curriculum system for performance majors can help young student actors build a systematic professional knowledge framework, thereby forming a clear career development path. While improving students' professional basic literacy, it also meets the industry's requirements for the quality of young actors. He hopes that young student actors should be aware of the difference between actors and idols, starting from small things, cultivating correct professional concepts and industry ethics, truly achieving moral education and talent training and adhering to principles while innovating. They should find their own style in performance, constantly improve themselves, and grow continuously, find their own goals in future creations, and contribute their strength to the development of performing arts field.



After the lecture, students had a lively discussion with Pro.Yu Zhen, starting from the problems encountered in learning to perform. Pro.Yu provided comments and answers to the students' questions based on his own experience in performance studies and filming.
