Two Studio Lectures in the School of Urban Construction


Since May 28th, the three Studio courses for Architecture-related majors in the School of Urban Construction, BCU have been gradually promoted according to the teaching plan. Recently, two online lectures were held to broaden students' horizons and provide inspiration for them to complete Studio related tasks.

On May 29th, Li Shuo, Executive Editor of International Design Magazine and Planning Director of the Organizing Committee of Yuanye Award International Competition, was invited to give a lecture on “World Cultural Heritage-The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal” to the students who took the course Historical Blocks Protection Planning and Renewal Design Studio”. Director Li firstly explained the history of the Grand Canal, Cangzhou culture and the charm of the base, and then took the German Ruhr Industrial Park, Shenyang Hongmei Cultural and Creative Park, and Lochal Library in Tilburg, Netherlands as examples to introduce various possibilities of protection and renewal, and guided students to think about the protection of the site of Cangzhou steel mill.


On June 2nd, He Min, Deputy Director of Village Planning Office, Deputy Director of Village Center, Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning and Design, Deputy Director, Expert and Secretary-general of Township Planning Committee, also the Responsible Planning Team Leader of Shunyi District, Beijing Urban Planning Society, was invited to give a lecture on “Strategic Planning: The Reform and Innovation of the Capital Planning System in the New Era” for students who took the course “Urban Design Studio”. Mr. He told the students about the layout of the capital planning system, the characteristics of Shunyi zoning planning and the main contents of the territorial space planning of Yang Town in Shunyi District in three sessions-namely planning, settling, and implementation. Then he had a Q&A based on the lecture content. Students discussed the opinions and thoughts brought up in the lecture and the lecture ended in a relaxed and active.
