November 10th, students in Year 3 majored in Communication participated in a course jointly delivered by Professor Mark Davenport from the Department of Communication, Northumbria University, UK, and Dr.Wei Xuan, Deputy Director of communication department, BCU. It took the online and offline hybrid teaching method.

Professor Davenport demonstrated the concepts and main principles of public service broadcasting, and sorted out the development process of BBC over the years. Then he introduced other TV stations which are in rival with BBC, deeply exploring the current issues facing traditional commercial radio and television stations in the UK. At the same time, Dr. Wei Xuan explained and supplemented the key points in both Chinese and English. She cited some examples to help students get clear comprehension. In the Interactive part, students had a positive interaction with peers on discussing questions raised by Professor Davenport. Lastly, all groups gave a presentation with their PPTs and shared their observation of British media works, communication channels and communication effect. The topics, of which, involved a wide range of fields, reflecting students’ broad international perspectives and rich professional knowledge.
The major of Communication is co-designed by Northumbria University and BCU, with featured courses delivered by both Northumbria University and BCU. It is taught bilingually in English and Chinese, focusing on cultivating students' international professional qualities and students' international communication capabilities.
